Community Walking Tour with the City of Calgary: Take the Survey by Sunday, October 4

2 min read

The City of Calgary's Planning Liaison Program is leading a walking tour of Richmond Knob Hill. City staff will walk the neighbourhood with board members and residents to look at streets, parks and open spaces, and how new development fits into the community, and to hear from people who live here.

What residents raise will help the City build a list of the community's priorities for future improvements, shared with City planners and the teams that fund improvements. It helps make sure our priorities are heard.

📅 Date to be confirmed, October or early November 2026

📍 Starts and ends at the Community Hall, 2433 26 Ave SW

Where the tour will go, and why

  1. Richmond Road at 26 Street, 25A Street and 25 Street SW, and 30 Avenue at 25A Street SW.Residents have raised concerns about cut-through traffic, speeding and safety on these residential streets.

  2. The former Viscount Bennett site, viewed from the street. One of the largest redevelopment sites in the community.

  3. Richmond Road at 26 Avenue SW. A busy intersection beside the Community Hall entrance, with 23 Street close by, where turning traffic at rush hour is a concern.

  4. 26 Avenue SW. The City is rebuilding the roadway, pathways and streetlights through the community.

  5. Richmond Green, and the junction of Richmond Road, 29 Street and 33 Avenue SW. Several projects meet here: the Richmond Green park redevelopment, a proposed extension of Quesnay Wood Drive with a roundabout at 33 Avenue, and a proposal to convert Richmond Road between 29 Street and 30 Street to open space.

How to take part

Please fill in our short survey by Sunday, October 4, to:

  • tell us about anything you'd like the City to see on streets, parks or public spaces;

  • let us know if you'd like to join the walk, and which days and times suit you.

About the walk: the tour is on foot and may take three to five hours, with stops along the way. It may be split into two shorter walks, and you're welcome to join for part of it. City staff will take photos, so participants will be asked to sign a photo release.

🏗️ Interested in development and planning? We're looking for volunteers. Have a say in what gets built in your community. Keep track of what's being proposed and help the community respond before decisions get made. Roughly 3 to 5 hours a month, no board seat needed.
