The City of Calgary is working on creating master plans for established areas of Calgary that are designed to “support communities and local businesses where growth and change are happening”. This initiative involves re-evaluating and harmonizing area-wide development plans across larger areas than the historical, community-sized frameworks so that city resources can be allocated to communities and areas that are undergoing significant redevelopment.
The Richmond/Knob Hill Community Association provided extensive input at city-led workshops for the western portion of the community, which is part of the Westbrook Communities Local Growth Planning Project that also includes the communities of: Wildwood, Spruce Cliff, Westgate, Rosscarrock, Shaganappi, Glendale, Killarney/ Glengarry, Glenbrook and the portions of Upper Scarboro/Sunalta West. This initiative is scheduled to be completed by the early 2022.
Findings from the initial consultation process are summarized here:
The same consultation process is happening for the eastern portion of our community and other neighbouring communities but at a delayed schedule.
